San Agustin, eine Stadt mit präkolumbianischer Kultur – und Erinnerungen

So, also wir sind, wie schon erwähnt, nach einem Tag Aufenthalt bei meiner Schwester auf der Finka, wieder mit ihrem Auto unterwegs.
San Agustin ist etwas mühsam zu erreichen, für ca. 135 km benötigt man annähernd 6 Std. das liegt daran dass man eine Andenkordilliere überwinden muss. Ein großer Teil der Strecke führt über ein Paramo/Bergschungel und es ist nur eine Piste angelegt.

Tiefe Schluchten ein undurchdringbarer Dschungel, ständiger Regen und die abgelegene Höhe erschweren den Strassenbau.

Das Besondere an San Agustin sind nicht nur die Ausgrabungen von Gräbern und Steinfiguren (werde später noch näher darauf eingehen), oder die wirklich fantastische Landschaft, uns verbindet etwas ganz Besonderes mit diesem Ort.

1986 (Gott ist das lange her), entstand hier die Idee, unsere Reise zu Pferd fortzusetzten. Über zwei Monate haben wir hier gelebt, Pferde gekauft, alles organisiert (unter anderem was man über das Reiten und die Haltung von Pferden wissen muss), haben die traumhafte Gegend als Training mit unseren eigenen Pferden erkundet. Es war wunderbar und ich bin heute etwas sentimental, obwohl sich der Ort total gewandelt hat.

Tatsächlich hat Eckus in seinem Archiv auch hier wieder Bilder gefunden, und darauf ist zu erkennen, warum man überhaupt auf die Idee kommen kann mit Pferden zu reisen.
San Agustin war eine Stadt wie im wilden Westen, alles wurde mit dem Pferd erledigt, ist mit Sicherheit auch der Unwegsamkeit des Geländes geschuldet. Die Campesinos (Bauern) kamen morgens mit ihrer Ware auf den Markt, und abends fand das Pferd den Weg alleine nachhause, denn meistens waren die Bauern nach erfolgreichem Verkauf sturzbetrunken.
Vor den Läden und den Bars waren die Pferde angebunden und haben geduldig gewartet bis es nachhause ging.
Heute gibt es kaum noch Pferde, die Straßen sind voll mit Mopeds, es ist laut und es stinkt – San Agustin ist gewachsen – und trotzdem haben wir uns gleich wieder wohl gefühlt, denn die Menschen sind hier ganz besonders offen und herzlich.
Heute gibt es aber immer noch die Möglich mit dem Pferd einen Ausflug zu den weit verstreuten Ausgrabungstätten zu buchen.

Eindrücke von 1986:

Die Reise über das Paramo war sehr abenteuerlich und hat mindestens 2 Std länger gedauert als heute (im Hintergrund ist Eckus zu erkennen)

im Laufe unseres Aufenthaltes hier gibt es sicher noch andere Eindrücke, aber man kann die Veränderung deutlich sehen

Auch auf dem Markt waren wir heute, Markttag ist immer etwas besonderes, da kommen auch heute noch alle Campesinos aus der Gegend, allerdings mit Moped oder Geländefahrzeug.


Übrig geblieben sind heute nur noch die Cowboyhüte bei den älteren Herren

Hier findet man wirklich alles was man braucht… oder auch nicht

Meerschweinchen gelten als Delikatesse 😉
Äpfel sind was Besonderes, sind teuer und weden dementsprechend in Szene gesetzt

Und wenn man Hunger hat, bekommt man hier das beste Essen, immer frisch zubereitet und üppig. Lecker Süppchen gibt es…

… aber auch komische frittierte Sachen. Mir ist es zu deftig, habe mich an die leckeren Früchte gehalten
